The last few lines from the poem Fern Hill by Dylan Thomas
" ... Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.
In a translation from the German words put to Beethoven's Ode to Joy, there are these words:
Joy, beautiful spark of the Gods
... She gives lust for life to the lowliest
...
