Child of War
Assemblage of found objects in wooden display box
brass bullet cases, Statue of Liberty souvenir, fired clay jointed doll (described below)
Dale Copeland
Years ago, the well-known Taranaki potter Marita Green made a series of child figures with buttons at the joints.
An assemblage she'd made for an exhibition in Opunake fell off the wall and this doll broke.
Marita was kind enough to give the pieces to me.
I knew that one day it would find its place and now, in these times of children living and dying in places of war, this is its place.
Crying for the children of war.
