I spent my teenage school holidays messing about in the basement of the Taranaki Museum.
It was there I became fascinated with the odd and unusual.
The professionals called them artifacts.
That interest has remained with me all my life.
Turning 70 was no big deal but I did start a new series that I called ‘artifact’.
The quote from Anton Zander La Vey appears on one of the works and pretty much sums up life since turning 70.
“I find greater companionship in inert figures, animals and speechless artifacts for I can enjoy their presence and there is no psychic drain.”
Life and art beyond 70 is great.
