We are not numbers
Mixed media collage, 2020
8 x 10 inches
by Maria Avila, 75

I used to take a selfie every year on my birthday
to check how I am going to be, just for fun.

I hope it is okay, it was on 22 September 2020, 75 y/o

Everything started in 1979.

I am a self-taught painter.

Through art I found a way to express my feelings and how I see the world.

Freedom to create is the most important for me: I let my soul guide me when working.

I used to paint oil on canvas and experimenting with other mediums too, like collage, paper mache, mixed medium.

I like vibrant colors and not much realistic: I use my imagination and intuition when keep studying, learning everyday.

Art is my passion, no words to explain it. Being in my Atelier is what please me the most.

What I do nobody can do for me: being happy and find joy where ever I can.

Yes, Dale, I keep "we are not numbers".

This is what I feel, after covid19 we heard many numbers of death, infected, etc...
