In the Psych Ward
Assemblage of found objects
old ceramic doll head, copper etching plate, brass, gold foil, glass, nails
in small box on spindly legs, with heavy hanging weight on chain
by Dale Copeland, 2016
$1120
For too many of my friends.
Weighted down, but not touching the earth, held apart. Remote, no part of whatever world is beyond the fence, beyond the pale.
There's the glitter of promise, the hope of a brighter place, but always behind, always beyond.
A fragile stillness. I don't belong. I don't exist.
